What I pay close attention to on a BMW
Oil leaks
Valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets are common leak points on BMWs. I look for oil seeping on the engine and underneath.
The cooling system
Plastic coolant parts and water pumps can wear out. I check coolant level and color and look for leaks around the radiator, hoses and pump.
Turbo engines
On turbocharged models I listen for unusual noises on startup and under acceleration, and scan the engine computer for stored fuel and boost codes.
xDrive and the drivetrain
On all-wheel-drive models I check that the tires match and listen for binding or noise from the drivetrain on the road test.
Run-flat tires and suspension
Many BMWs use run-flat tires that wear quickly and ride hard. I measure the tread and check the suspension for clunks.
Modules and electronics
I scan the car’s many computers for codes and test iDrive, cameras, sensors and comfort features.

What every inspection includes
- 146-point hands-on inspection by an ASE-Certified Master Technician—the person you book is the person who shows up
- Computer scan of the engine, transmission, ABS, airbag and other systems, with every code explained
- Paint meter readings on every body panel to spot earlier bodywork
- Tread depth on every tire, plus brakes checked through the wheels
- A road test of at least five miles when it’s safe and the seller allows it

Nothing is taken apart. The inspection is a condition snapshot, not a warranty or a guarantee against future problems.
